Civil War, by Guns n' Roses

Civil War
, released by Guns n' Roses in their album Use your illusion II (1991), is a song against war. Listen carefully to its lyrics.

What does "civil" mean? Can you find any irony in the term "civil war"?

This video shows appalling images from the film Saving Private Ryan (1998). The film was based upon World War II (1939-1945). But while the song was being released in 1991, there were other wars taking place.

If you search in Google by "war" and "1991", you will find lots of links to the Gulf War. Do you know when and where it took place? Who were fighting in it? Do you think Guns n' Roses were thinking on the Gulf War when they wrote Civil War? Why?

Thank you so much, Jonnathan, for proposing this song!

"Pistolas y rosas". (¿Starway to heaven?)Una gran canción.
